Beverley McLean has been a long time vendor on the Taranaki Weddings Directory.
I first had the chance to witness Beverley in action almost 7 years ago as she conducted a ceremony at a wedding I was working and I absolutley don’t mind admit that despite not knowing the couple – I was in tears behind my sunglasses. Yes – the ceremony that she delivered was THAT beautiful. It’s been a pleasure to get to know Beverley across the past years and I was stoked to get the chance to amongst the first people to check her stunning and intimate new ceremony space – Manu Haven.
Today on the blog – Beverley tells us a little about her passion, her pursuit and her beautiful garden space.
So – tell us Beverley – how long have you worked in the Wedding Industry (specifically in Taranaki as well)?
I’ve worked in the wedding industry since 2014 – in Taranaki and a few out of towners for families I know well.
Have you always worked in the Industry – if not, what did you do before? And what made you want to work in the Wedding Industry?
I retired from teaching in 2016 and since then have been super busy with weddings as well as funerals – I absolutely LOVE working in both fields even though they’re vastly different. I’ve always LOVED working with people and feel incredibly blessed to be in this role. It’s mighty special when I’m asked by past students to be with them on their special day and equally special when I help them farewell their loved ones. I feel as though I have that close bond with them forever ! I’m super excited about the year ahead and ready to discuss plans with couples searching for that ‘something different’.
Is this your full-time occupation or your side hustle?
It’s definitely full time at the moment as I’m kept steadily busy!
What’s your favourite moment in a wedding?
I must say all my weddings become my favourites – they’re all uniquely different from each other!
So tell us more about Manu Haven…
A year ago one of my long time dreams became a reality when my garden was landscaped and is now able to be used as a venue for intimate weddings. Manu Haven hosted quite a few over the last year and I’m looking forward to this summer as I’ve redesigned the garden.
It now features:– a roofed pergola
– a few more landings which lead to a curvy path and steps
– heaps more subtropical plants- broms and palms
– and a secret little hideout which overlooks the garden , where couples may ‘tie the knot’ or couples may meet me to discuss their plans – in case of rain !Manu Haven is secluded, tranquil and quite unique, where a ceremony may be accompanied by a symphony of birdsong. Magical !
Feel free to add anything interesting about you!
