The ever popular expo has been a yearly tradition for Taranaki couples newly engaged and organising their wedding day, but typically this expo is held in New Plymouth only. With a demand from as far as Palmerston North, South Taranaki finally has its own Wedding Expo!
The TSB Hub Wedding Expo was held on Sunday 25th March from 10am - 4pm and was a raging success for its first time as a venue. To the credit of the Hubs young talent, Vicki Johnston, Mark Mekalick and their team, the expo was put together in a quick two months and featured 32 vendors from across Taranaki.
I went around and visited most of our website vendors, many were swamped with crowds!I also got to meet new and exciting businesses, in particular Executive Transport who have a fleet of executive cars, young and old!
The day was a beautiful sunny autumn outcome, which couldn't have been more perfect for a sunday outing, especially for the 710 visitors in the 6 hour period. In the first hour they had 195 people through and by the time I got there at 11.30, there had been 350 people checking the stalls out, collecting brochures and giveaways.
I saw many enjoying the cake sampling from Annette's Cake Design and the wee cup cakes from Little Miss Cup Cakes (who had an amazing cup cake tower special). Lovell's Flowers 4 You were giving away gorgeous pink gerberas (of course they were one vendor I couldn't get to) and loads were enjoying the fashion show and dance demos by The Modern Jivers. Other vendors of ours were Dobsons Marquee and Party Hire, who were also swamped with enquiries and A Touch of Romance where Paul says it was good for couples to get a feel for inside the limos rather than just checking out photos.
Our photographers were out in force. Emma Fleming of Flash Focus Photograhy, Sandra Henderson and Kevin Bone were all there and all new to the wedding expo trend. Kevin says he was most intruiged by the amount of couples interested in his photo booth, where he puts up a white screen and lights at the reception for couples to have photos with friends and family using props.
We had fun with Wishing Well Flowers. Katherine had an amazing display to capture what she can do for weddings, including style and theme. This included a mix of rustic, vintage and creative bunches of different bouquets.
Linda from Tairoa Lodge and Cottage was enjoying a quick coffee when we caught up with her. Busy as ever, she had a wedding the day before with overnight guests for breakfast, and scraped in to set up her display just in the nick of time!
The day finished with Mayor Ross Dunlop announcing the winner of the $3500 prize draw package won by a Ms Prestidge. It included specials and deals from Bliss Beauty, Hawera Travel Centre, Annette's Cake Design, Hair on Main, A Touch of Romance, Wishing Well Flowers, Ambiance Style, Hub Health and Fitness, Serenity Wellness Spa and Kevin Bone Photography.
All in all, I think it was a great start to the TSB Hubs career in wedding expos and it was made more enjoyable by the pumping sounds throughout the day provided by Eruption Mobile DJ.
