Brooke and Jack were married at New Plymouths Methodist Church on the 6th March 2010.
Brooke says “choosing the date for our wedding was easy as we wanted it to include a long weekend so what better than Taranaki Anniversary”. The church was significantly special to Brooke “it was the one my parents were married in almost 30 years to the day”.
The theme was a traditional wedding that included both passions of the beach and farming so deciding on photography locations was easy. The couple chose Pip Guthrie to capture those special moments “thanks to her, we have an awesome record of one of the best days of our lives”.
It was an early start to the day for Brooke and the girls who got ready at her parents home in New Plymouth. Be Gorgeous mobile styling did the hair and make-up for Brooke, her three bridesmaids and her 22 month old daughter Ayla. “Because our hair stylist and make-up artist came to us so we were able to relax for most of the day”.
3pm and a series of old and new Ford Falcons arrive to take them to the church. “My Dad and I got to go in the newest Falcon, a very nice car indeed”.
Jack and his three groomsmen spent their day at the couple’s home in Stratford before cruising to New Plymouth in mustangs “dear husband was responsible for the car selection and what a good job he did!”
Thinking back to the ceremony, Brooke says “it was perfect. My Dad had secretly organised a couple to sing a song for us which was awesome, it just put that finishing touch on it all. I didn’t know it at the time, but this was the spot they also stood doing the same thing 30 years earlier, that was pretty cool”.
After the ceremony the couple had a quick set of family photos outside the front of the church before being whisked away to their first photo location at the Waiwhakahio River Mouth “our photos were taken only days before the little bridge there was demolished ready for the walk-way extension”. The bridal party then drove up to a farm on Mangorei Road “the weather on the day was ideal for photos so we were very lucky”.
Brooke and Jacks wedding reception was held in the Grand Ballroom at The Hotel Plymouth International “the staff there were wonderful during the preparation phase for our reception and everything went like clock-work throughout the evening with many of our guests enjoying the benefit of staying in their rooms”.
The happy couple cut their wedding cake which was designed by them and made by Helen Sharpe before dancing the night away to Good Vibes “they played exactly what we wanted as well as any requests, we had a fabulous DJ”.
Brooke says “all-in-all our day was perfect, it couldn’t have possibly gone better. The Naki had turned on a stunning day for us and we had many people from around the region to thank for making our great day such a success”.
