Annette has been on the Wedding Scene for as long as I can remember
in fact – I remember attending a Wedding Expo back when I was planning my own wedding 12 years ago and seeing Annette there.
A Love of Cakes by Annette has taken home more Awards at the Taranaki Weddings Industry Awards than any other Wedding Vendor in the Taranaki Region – and it’s no surprise. This amazingly talented lady creates the most delicious and most beautiful cakes – read on to find out more about Annette.
How long have you worked in the Wedding Industry (specifically in Taranaki as well)?
I’ve been in the industry for 15 years!!
Have you always worked in the Industry – if not, what did you do before?
I was a PA before I got into Cakes, Working for Fonterra.
What made you want to work in the Wedding Industry?
It was after I got married, I couldn’t find a cake maker in Taranaki to make the cake I wanted, so had to buy from out of the region. I always loved decorating my Mums Christmas cakes, so I went and did a few night classes and the rest is history.
Is this your full-time occupation or your side hustle?
Full-Time
What’s your favourite moment in a wedding?
Watching the groom see his bride for the first time, it nearly always brings me to tears!!
What’s your favourite thing about working in this Industry?
I love being part of my couples special day. I am always honoured to be asked to make their wedding cake as its normally the center piece for their reception.
Tells us three interesting – non wedding related – things that people might want to know about you?
I am married, with three children, I grew up on a Sheep and Deer Farm. If I wasn’t making cakes I would love to be designing kitchens!

I have diplomas in Business, Accounting and Management. I have three older sisters and no brothers (lol my poor dad!!). I love to read, and don’t go anywhere without my kindle.
Even though I did a few night classes when I first started making cakes, I am mostly self-taught.
