It’s the night before the BIG DAY and your girl squad have arrived for the all-girls slumber party!
Before you settle in for the night – here’s our Top 10 things to do the night before your BIG DAY!
1 – Make sure you eat a wholesome meal
Resist the urge to binge on treats and junk food that might cause bloating or an upset tummy on the big-day. Eat a nutritious dinner – not to heavy, to make sure you get a good nights sleep.
2 – Steam and Hang Up your Dress and Veil
Ideally – the earlier you do this, the better. Get your dress out of it’s garment bag and give any creases a steam. If you have a steamer – perfect – steam away (make sure it’s clean and don’t hold the steamer too close to the fabric) – if you don’t have a steamer – either fill your bath up with super hot water or run your shower as hot as possible to fill the bathroom up with steam – hang your dress up as high as possible and fan the train out across the (clean) floor – allow your gown to sit in the steam for as long as necessary to let the creases drop out. Make sure you hang your dress up with the train fanned out to allow it to dry fully before it’s time to put it on. Repeat with your veil and bridesmaids dresses if necessary.
3 – Pack your “Oh Shit Kit”
Make sure you have everything needed in your emergency kit – ready to go for the big day. If you’re not sure what you’ll need – check out the inclusive list in our free Wedding Planner
4 – Pamper Yourself
Take a long bath with some candles, pop on a moisture mask, pop your feet in a foot spa and rub moisturiser all over to help you have fresh, dewy skin on the big day. If you haven’t had a pedicure – take the time to polish your toes and pop on a good chick flick while they dry.
5 – Pack your Overnight Bag/Suitcase
If you’re spending your wedding night somewhere fabulous or heading straight off on your honeymoon – make sure you have everything packed the night before so you have one less thing to do on the big day.
6 – Review your schedule for the Big Day
Go over the big day plans and make sure your Bridal Party are aware of all the plans and where to be and when and then – if you think you can – pass the plan to them and let them take charge so that you can relax and enjoy the day!
7 – Avoid the alcohol and stick to water or herbal tea
Hydrate, hydrate, HYDRATE – dehydration can lead to dull skin, dark eye circles, headaches and lethargy (among many other unpleasant feelings) – hydration is key on the big day!
8 – Print out a Vendor List
….and pass it to a member of your Bridal Party. Just in case – it’s handy to have a list of contact information for everyone involved in your big day to save you having to scroll through emails or trying to find contact info online.
9 – Practice your Speech
….if you’re making one. Take the opportunity to run through it a few times with your bridesmaids – test out your jokes or see if you can get through it without crying. On that note – if you’ve asked one of your maids to make a toast – make sure they’ve got it covered.
10 – Get a Good Nights Sleep
Can’t stress this one enough – resist the urge to stay up till the wee hours chatting, drinking bubbles and watching chick-flicks – your Wedding Day is going to be a long day (although I promise you – it will FLY in) so tuck yourself in and try to get 8 hours sleep.
