Talk about a BEAUTIFUL wedding! When Alex and Christa sent us some of the images from their wedding – we spent a good few hours falling in love with their gorgeous wedding images before we even started to think about writing this blog!! Everything from the gorgeous little page boys in their shorts and braces, to the delicious looking naked cake, the flowers – OH MY GOODNESS the flowers and don’t even get me started on that DRESS! SWOON!!!!
Over to Christa for all the details on their BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY!
Tell us about your love story, how did you meet etc?
Alex and I met in London in 2012 while we both on a mini OE. We met in your typical kiwi pub and quickly became inseparable. We moved in together after only three weeks! We spent six months in London before moving back to New Plymouth and getting our little dog Mila and buying a house. Alex proposed a year later while we were on holiday in Langkawi, Malaysia. He’ d organised a jet ski trip, and popped the question while we were swimming in a lake on one of the islands.
Why did you say ‘YES’? How did you know/why is he the one?
I knew Alex was the one the first time he laughed at my stupid jokes! He gets me in ways no one else does and he makes me smile every day.
What was your inspiration or theme for the day?
Our inspiration was a vintage romantic French themed wedding, because we both love classical elegance. And visiting Paris for the first time after we met, I just fell in love with the place!
Among the many special moments, what are the “stand out” memories for you?
The stand out memory for me was when everything that could go wrong was going wrong, Alex and I never argued, we stayed true to what we wanted and ended up moving the time of our wedding to 11am, so we could get married in my parents garden before the weather was meant to set in, under the Pergola that Alex had spent hours building for us. Also our wonderful friends and family who came to help us without question to get our wedding back on track, they were all truly amazing!
There are so many aspects to make a wedding uniquely you. What were important to you to make your wedding day just perfect for you?
We felt it was important to get a really great photographer, as those pictures will live on after the buzz of the day is over. And we were so pleased with Tammie, she was truly amazing and went above and beyond for us!
In hindsight, is there anything that you would have done differently?
In Hindsight I would have loved to have gone for a honeymoon straight after the wedding, because after all the stress leading up to the big day we really needed a moment just the two of us and it felt like an eternity until we got that!
What advice would you give to future brides to be?
Aim to forget about everything on the day, you can’t change anything from here on out so just enjoy what will be, because something will always be a bit out of touch.

Anything else you would like to add?
Photo Booth Fun were awesome too – everyone loved the photobooth! Our Suppliers were all amazing! Especially after our Marquee was damaged in the storm the day before our wedding, and we had to change our entire reception venue and brought forward the time of the ceremony by three hours. Everyone came to the party and was more than willing to change their schedule and help us out in any way possible. It was so humbling to see the true kindness of human nature.
